Botany is subject with vast practical application in the theoretical and applied fields. It is the basis of agricultural forestry, microbiological, biotechnological and other applied fields. A student studying in Botany may go for higher education in the above mentioned fields and have numerous employment opportunities and scope in research.

Mission of the Department:
* To disseminate knowledge and understanding about the biology of plants and develop human resources with expertise in skill-based areas of plant sciences to enhance their personality and employability.
* We utilize an integrated approach of teaching, extension, and outreach. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are important, interdependent components of everyday life and we consider these critical to our pursuit of academic excellence.
* To use science for exploration of plants and realize their significance in the entire ecosystem, especially emphasizing the ecosystem in Assam, and the nation.
