The science stream of pre-degree course at Bahona College was introduced from the session 1972-73 under Dibrugarh University and there by the department of mathematics came into its existence. The Department started the under graduate core course in the year 1975 and major course in the year 1983. The founder teachers Late L. N. Bora, Late Mohendra Bora and Mr. C. P. Bora contributed a lot to establish the department at present status.

Vision of the Department:
Mathematics develops computational skill, critical thinking and problem solving abilities. The faculty of the Department of Mathematics recognizes this and strives to insure that the students obtain this knowledge. At the same time, the faculty contributes to the discipline by fundamental research in pure and applied Mathematics and Mathematics education

Mission of the Department:
The mission of the Department of Mathematics is to have a positive and lasting impact on the quality of mathematics education. The department offer core and major courses at undergraduate level to ensure that the student will be able to contribute to today’s society.

INFRASTRUCTURAL FACILITIES:

a) Library: Department of Mathematics & Comp Sc., Bahona College possesses a departmental Library, which is situated in the departmental room containing 250 books. All students of Mathematics (major & non-major) are highly benefited from this Library.

b) Internet facilities for Staff & Students: A computer set with one scanner cum printer and internet facilities.

c) Class rooms with ICT facility: Common digital class room and Computer Lab with 25 computers.

d) Dept. Wall Magazine: One Dept. Wall magazine”Dimention” Published every Year.
