The Department of Physics, Bahona College started functioning in 1972 and the first batch of students majoring in physics passed out of this department in the year 1980. Since then as many as 35 batches of students have graduated successfully. Many of the students who have passed out from here are now presently serving as Associate/Assistant Professors in Universities and Colleges and Subject teachers/ Assistant teachers in Higher Secondary/ High Schools. Some are Scientists or Executive in national and international institutions. Adding to this growth, the subject Electronics was introduced by the department in the year 1995. The department has a research laboratory recognized by the Dibrugarh University for Ph. D. Work.


Vision:

To disseminate the physics knowledge among students so that they become globally competitive physicists and to create strong interest in physics so as the youths of this region can go for higher education in Physical Science.

Mission:

The Physics department is committed to impart quality education both in theoretical as well as in experimental physics through observation and analysis of the natural world. We are also committed to provide the tools and skills for enhancing the knowledge of the universe so that students can solve the challenges they face as individuals, communities and societies.

INFRASTRUCTURE:

The Department has three well equipped class rooms, three laboratories and a dark room for degree students.
The Department had one Research Laboratory equipped with some sophisticated research equipment like Vacuum Coating Unit, UV-Visible Spectrophometer, Refracting Telescope, Spin Coater, Digital Balance, Digital pH meter etc.
Classes are equipped with black boards, green boards and one LCD projector.
Department has two desktop computers with printer and scanner.
The departmental Library has more than three hundreds text books and nearly two hundred reference books and study room.
The department has a spacious well furnished teachers’ sitting room.
