Department of Political Science of Bahona College was established in the Year 1966. It is one of the oldest departments of this discipline in this region. This department has contributed towards teaching and research in the discipline of Political Science. The Department has produced thousands of Graduates in Political Science. The Faculty members of the Department have also earned reputation in the region. They have contributed towards the discipline of Political Science and other related social sciences for decades. The department has introduced Semester System from the academic session 2011-12 with a revised syllabus focusing on the emerging areas in political science. The department is engaged with different research activities where faculty members and students take part. Apart from the Major and Non major courses on Political Science, department teaches Political Science to the Higher Secondary students also. The department also has a Six months certificate course on Human Rights.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND FACILITIES AVAILABLE:
Department has a very good infrastructure for academic activities. It has a well furnished departmental room. The department has a Desktop and printer where teachers and students can work. The desktop is connected with broadband and one can surf internet and download files for their academic works. The department is also covered by college Wi-Fi facility.
The department has a library where more than 600 books are available. Students can borrow a book for 15 days from the library. Currently Pankaj Bora is the library in-charge of the departmental library. Apart from reference books and text books, it has a huge collection on journals and magazines donated by the faculty members of the department. Students can read those journals and magazines at the departmental room.
Recently department has started an e-archive. In this e-archive department has collected soft copies of different books. Students can take the softcopy of the available books from the library in-charge.
